I’ve gotten to +300 layers for a single drawing. And I’ve seen way more from actual artists.
So yeah, pretty norm.
My max is 40 when it comes to commissions.
The less the better really….

And groups. Groups are a lifesaver.
…I should count how many layers I usually use. …Easily gets into the 100s with updates. O_____O
GROUPS are indeed best.
And I’m around 100 myself with 10panel updates.
Last update was 82 layers long. And it was one of the simplest XD
The update before that hit 200, cause gifs.

LOL… Counting every layer under groups… On an image with backgrounds I average 250-300 layers. I’ve gone over 1 000 once or twice, separated between maybe 20 groups with some subgroups. I tend to like to keep EVERYTHING separate. XD No clue how I keep track of them all so easily, but I do… xD
